What we do?
Brimstone performs a wide variety of heat treatment procedures to meet our customer’s needs.
We ensure our clients are satisfied by following customer recommendations, as well as industry codes and standards.
With almost 40 years in the heat treating industry, our staff may come up with recommendations on bracing or reinforcement to avoid distortion or deformation during the heat treatment process.
What is heat treating?
This procedure repairs the stresses created in metals due to corrosion, fabrication and welding.
The terms Heat Treating or Stress Relieving are often used interchangeably.
The procedure includes a controlled rate of heating and cooling of a metal alloy in order to achieve the desired outcome of metal hardness. During this procedure, we heat the entire object to customer specifications in our furnace by heating and holding set temperatures for a specified period of time to reduce the residual stresses and then cooling to ambient temperature all at controlled rates so that no new residual stresses occur. This process “re-aligns” the molecular structure in the metals in order to achieve the customer’s desired metallurgical end result.
